Some areas have a potentially explosive atmosphere where the use of two-way radio can cause explosions, such as mills, petrochemical refineries and oil rigs. Specially approved products are required to ensure communication remains safe. Risk areas are classified under the ATEX directive. Some radio manufacturers produce specially approved products to meet these requirements and they are listed in this section.
